Man it is way to hot this week, with Temps in the high 70s early in the am to scolding over 100 in the afternoon. This week I have been hitting up some smaller creeks around here. We have several small ones that are spring fed so the water is much cooler than the rivers and especially the lake.
Smallmouth are still on fire even when it's hot. You can stay wading in the creek to keep you nice and cool while still wetting a line.
I recommend throwing anything finess with weights so you reach the bottom in the current and keep it there. Green pumpin and watermelon are my go to colors in the clear water.
